Signing of MUO between Amref International University (AMIU) and SHE

On 12 October 2018, a contract with Amref University in Nairobi was signed and on 28 March, the MUO signing (a tripartite contract) with Amref in Leiden, the Netherlands

Dr. Alice Lakati, Ag. Vice Chancellor Amref International University (AMIU) with Geraldine Beaujean M.D, Managing Director of SHE Collaborates during the partnership signing between the two institutions.

The partnership will oversee the strengthening of capacity and quality of the health workforce at AMIU, by improving Health Professions Education across the continent. This cooperation is to explore and initiate opportunities to collaborate and share expertise between the two education institutions.

Amref International University (AMIU) has signed partnerships with key institutions to enhance capacity training in the health sector. The university has partnered with SHE Collaborates, the international office of SHE from Maastricht University and Julius Centre Global Health and Elevate Health which are part of University Medical Centre Utrecht (UMCU).

Under the agreements, AMIU will collaborate with the organizations to promote innovations in health care technology and capacity building in health sciences including promoting online healthcare courses, alignment of educational content, co-creation and expansion of programmes, development of the Amref E-campus among other initiatives.

AMIU Interim Vice Chancellor, Dr. Alice Lakati said the shared goal of the parties is to strengthen the capacity and quality of the health workforce in Africa. “These partnerships are geared towards strengthening and building of capacity in response to the challenge of inadequate human resources in the healthcare.” said Dr Lakati. “The objective of these agreements are to explore and initiate opportunities to collaborate and share expertise with the aim of creating mutually beneficial outcomes,” said Dr Lakati.
