SHE knows the need for research-oriented and flexible courses at the post-master and PhD level and the demand for flexibility is now rapidly increasing since more and more people want to take the next step in research after their Master degree.

The next step after a master’s degree in Health Professions Education is often research. Health Professions Education is a flourishing field in which a growing number of educators are holding a relevant master’s degree. We know that starting a PhD can be a challenging adventure: timing, availability, placement opportunities, budget and personal circumstances can play a role.

The growth in Health Professions Education (HPE) has raised important questions to conduct educational research. The number of questions arising regarding the quality and efficacy of educational practice has fed a growing field of HPE research. Researchers must be able to conceptualize, perform and describe their research better.
Health professions education research plays an important role to create effective educational programmes that result in high quality health services. Our courses provide help towards a PhD in health professions education. Our researchers act as supervisors, who provide feedback and coaching during the whole of the courses. You choose the topic of your interest, we provide the expertise. Your own research project can be the central theme guiding you through the course of your interest.

Since many years SHE offers the very successful courses “Writing a PhD Research Proposal” and “Critical choices in Qualitative Research”

New are the research oriented online courses that could help you further towards your goal and educational- or career ambitions in health professions education. SHE developed two new MSc+ level online courses on “Research on Assessment of Professional Competences” and “Research on Task-Centered Learning Environments” that we see as particularly relevant for candidates in health professions education with a strong research orientation.
