Keuzegids Masters 2018

The ‘Keuzegids Masters 2018’, published today, shows that the master's programmes of the UM Law Faculty are valued again like in previous years. And despite the fact that none of our programmes reached the first place, the differences a small and the appreciation for the content of the various programmes and the quality of the teachers remains high.

In the ranking of the general legal masters (category Dutch Law – Law), the master programme Dutch Law dropped a few places. However, it is remarkable that non of the programmes in this category scores above average. Academic training and practical orientation are a point for attention in all Dutch Law programs. In the International Law category, the master European Law School decreases by one place to the third place although the programme obtains the same score as last year (70). Like in previous years, students are satisfied with the quality of their teachers, the coaching, the content of the programme and the studyability.

“European Law School in Maastricht and Groningen are praised for their programme; it is consistent and of a good level” according to the Keuzegids.

This year, the total score of the master Globalisation and Law rises by two points (62 compared to 60 in 2017) but nevertheless drops in the ranking. As advantages of the programme, students mention the quality of the teachers and the studyability of the programme. And finally, in the category Criminology and Security, the master Forensics,Criminology and Law rises to a respectable second place but scientific training remains an important consideration.

The Independent Keuzegids Masters assesses and compares the quality of master's programmes and helps students in choosing further education. The Keuzegids’ judgement is based on the opinions of students (70%) and on judgments of the NVAO, the national inspection body for higher education (30%).
