Sexual and reproductive health courses for school-aged children in Nepal

By

SHE Collaborates recently won a tender for a Tailor Made Training (TMT) in Nepal, starting the 1st of September. It was a collaborative effort from SHE Collaborates and the GGD Zuid Limburg (Public Health Service Limburg)

Nepal is facing an upward trend in sexual harassment against women and gender inequality is one of the underlying causes. Sexuality education can be used to address these problems among adolescents. Therefore, this TMT aims to develop and implement a short course in comprehensive sexuality education for school-aged children (8-19 years of age), with a specific emphasis on ‘gender based violence’.

Based upon a situational assessment, SHE Collaborates together with the consultants of GGD-Zuid Limburg and the staff of Dhulikhel hospital will develop the comprehensive sexuality education course suited for the local context. Afterwards all outreach staff of Dhulikhel Hospital receives training on communication and teaching skills so that they can implement the course in their schools and communities.
