Suzanne Schut, best scientific paper on assessment during the AMEE conference

By

We are proud that Suzanne Schut has been awarded the prize for best scientific paper on assessment during the AMEE conference in Vienna. Suzanne presented a study that is part of her PhD. In this study she inquired the influence of teacher-learner relationships on learners’ perceptions of assessment stakes.

The study showed that to utilise the learning potential of low-stake assessment, teachers are required to stimulate learner agency in safe and trusting assessment relationships, while carefully considering the influence of their own agency on learners’ assessment perceptions. Interpersonal theory offers a useful lens for understanding assessment relationships and the opportunities for faculty development to support teachers to develop positive and productive relationships with learners in which the potential of low-stake assessments for self-regulated learning could be realised.

Congratulations Suzanne
