Off to Mozambique!

SHE Collaborates has been selected by Nuffic to coordinate a project on Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights at the Catholic University of Mozambique (UCM) in Beira and the Higher Institute of Health Sciences (ISCISA) in Maputo.

The idea is to establish an Expertise Centre in Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (EC-SRHR) at UCM, playing a key role in bringing together SRHR expertise and experiences from different UCM and ISCISA faculties and HIV departments. The expertise centre organizes workshops, Training of Trainers (ToT) and symposia for staff, students and community members, with each time a specific SRHR topic in the spotlight, addressed by national and international experts.

Most common diseases in Mozambique (HIV and AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria) are infectious diseases that also have a behavioural component.  Therefore, the project will also develop a Health Promotion track within the MSc. Public Health at UCM. Graduates from this track will have the capacity to develop scientifically based, solid health interventions on a regional and national level aiming to change unhealthy behaviour into healthy behaviour.

SHE Collaborates will work closely with the Royal Tropical Institute, Stop Aids Now! and Rutgers. The project will take off in the first semester of 2017.
