Nachbar Nacht - Heerlen
On Wednesday May 9, 2018, the Municipality of Heerlen organises an event in the city centre of Heerlen. This event is organized to celebrate the border location Heerlen-Aachen. The distance between Heerlen and Aachen is so small that both cities can easily benefit from each other’s cultures and events. Thus, to celebrate the cooperation between these two cities and to highlight the border location, Heerlen organises the event, the “Nachbar Nacht”.
This first Nachbar Nacht is part of the program of the Aachen Karlspreis. This international award will be rewarded to the French President Emmanuel Macron on May 10th, 2018.
Student Think Tank postponedNew date: May 23rd, 2018 (18.00-20.30)

In the context of the Nachbar Nacht, a Student Think Tank will take place on Wednesday May 23rd, 2018. The Think tank will focus on opportunities of young professionals living in the border region. The Think Tank will be organised by the Municipality of Heerlen and the Institute for Transnational and Euregional cross border cooperation and Mobility (ITEM). 15:00 – 17:30 pm German Students Introduction: City walk & BBQ
German students get the opportunity to get to know the city by playing a game, in the form of a city walk with small assignments. If the game is completed, the students can enjoy a nice BBQ. This is free of charge.
Furthermore, there is a general program of the Nachbar Nacht. This program includes mural tours with shuttle buses through the cities of Heerlen and Aachen, 2 movie’s in the quatro cinema, Klein.Berlijn (with a poetry slam, singer songwriters and a breakdance battle) and last but not least a concert from “Nur Deutsche Welle” in the Nieuwe Nor in Heerlen.
