A glimpse of current projects

By

In our projects we promote and provide improvement in health professions education practices. The starting points are the wishes of our international partners. We find it very important to learn about the specific needs, wishes and interests of our partners, and to understand the context of the prospective collaboration.

If necessary, we can help to identify your strengths and needs in order to design a tailor-made capacity building programme.

In our projects we offer a wide variety of services, including faculty development and support in Problem-Based Learning (PBL) implementation, Change management & project management and curriculum design. Other innovations can involve: assessment innovations, clinical skills training and communication skills training implementing innovative e-learning tools or quality control & assurance

Collaborations can lead to facilitation of MSc & PhD training (in the context of long-term collaboration) and joined research in health professions education

Our projects and collaborations exist through long-term partnerships (of more than three years)

Examples of the latest SHE Collaborates projects:

Ethiopia:

Capacity Development for Quality Improvement of the New Medical Education Initiative

Two medical colleges (Axum and Adama) will be strengthened by SHE Collaborates in order to gain academic capacity to design, implement and evaluate an integrated and modularized curriculum. In addition, the management system at all levels is being trained, enabling the schools to guide and support curriculum implementation. Furthermore, the medical colleges will establish an educational resource centre capable to support other medical schools.

Ghana:

Capacity Building of the Schools of Hygiene in Ho, Tamale and Accra

Environmental health officers play a crucial role in improving the environment of Ghana. Three Schools of Hygiene in Ghana provide education for these officers. SHE Collaborates strengthens the teaching and learning infrastructure for the schools (library, ICT and laboratories), enabling the schools to make a transition from a diploma to a bachelor level (Accra) and from a certificate level to a diploma level (Tamale and Ho).

Burundi:

Reforming the medical curriculum at three medical schools (Université de Burundi, Université l’Espoir d’Afrique, Université Ngozi)
