Time to celebrate our successes, We look back with gratitude for what we have achieved and towards a bright future for what we can achieve even more thanks to our MHPE students, collaborating partners and alumni.

The number of master’s programs in health professions education increases globally and so does the interest in these programs

What make the Master of health Professions Education Programme of SHE unique and different from the other Master programmes?

First, the SHE Master program is strongly research-oriented.

The interrelationship between educational theory, research, and educational practice is continuously emphasized in our programme.

SHE from Maastricht University is the most productive research group in health professions education in the world. Out of the 10 most productive researchers, 3 are from Maastricht.

Second, the program is explicitly internationally orientated

The MHPE is a highly ranked degree programme in health professions education with highly valued staff and a NVAO quality mark with a distinctive feature for internationalization.

SHE-MHPE attracts an international group of professionals from a variety of educational, professional, international, and cultural backgrounds. Participants acquire international and intercultural skills and knowledge, which prepared them for careers in a globalizing world in an international community of health professions educators.

The strong international orientation also can be seen in the number of international partner institutions.

SHE-MHPE is proud to collaborate with Suez Canal University in Egypt, the Universities of British Colombia and Western Ontario in Canada, the Academy of Medicine Singapore, and the New York University School of Medicine. Each partner school delivers several courses characterized by their contextual strengths and flavors and allows flexible exchange of knowledge.

Third, the program focuses on innovative learning environments.

There is a strong emphasis on self-directed learning and use of authentic problems as triggers for learning, which enables participants to apply what they have learned in their own professional situation and see immediate results. There is also a strong focus on collaborative learning in which students from various professional, international, and cultural backgrounds collaborate, provide peer feedback, and gain insight in each other’s working environments while collaborating on their assignments. Participants furthermore receive extensive qualitative feedback from teachers and are guided and supported by a personal mentor.

Reasons to be proud that our MHPE programme is running successfully for already 25 years and to celebrate this with our MHPE Students, Graduates, Alumni and staff  on 31 May (Master thesis presentations) and during the MHPE graduation of June 1st 2017.

You’re most welcome to join us.
