SHE PhD team-building weekend

At the beginning of May, the third edition of the annual PhD getaway took place. This time a group of 13 internal SHE PhD students went to Antwerp for an innovative team-building weekend.

On Friday, we began by revealing the destination. After a quick stop for coffee, we went to the University of Antwerp to attend a workshop of Prof. dr. David Gijbels. In this workshop, we learned the ins and outs of writing the introductory chapter of our thesis and translating this introductory to a review paper. After a good old fashion soup lunch, we had the afternoon to work independently on topics of our choosing. Afterward, we enjoyed a well-deserved meal at one of the most famous restaurants in Antwerp: ‘Het Elfde Gebod’ (The holy pub). We ended the day traditionally with some dancing and a few drinks.

On Saturday, we had a very creative fun teambuilding experience. Under the bridge near our hotel, we learned how to use spray-cans in a graffiti workshop. After putting our boiler suits, we made our best creations. We had a fun weekend full of learning. We are looking forward to next year!
