New project in Burundi

By

The branch of SHE for international activities and global collaborations started new projects in Burundi, Africa.

SHE Collaborates is currently reshaping the medical curricula at three universities in Burundi (Bujumbura and Ngozi).

The teaching system will become student centered by applying Problem Based Learning. In addition, skills-labs will be established within the three universities. Due to travel restrictions (Burundi is labeled as code red), we have organized workshops at Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda. Staff from this university is sharing their experience concerning the transition from a traditional towards a student –centered teaching and learning methodology.

Recently on 20 September, the rectors of the three Burundi universities and project coordinators have visited Maastricht University and also met with Professor Dr. Rianne Letschert, Rector of Maastricht University.

The strength of is SHE collaborates lies in innovative training and consulting in the areas of education, management and research, to promote improvement in health professions education practices.

“Working in a global context in health profession education and the variety of partners, disciplines, educational backgrounds and cultures makes our work so very challenging and diversified”. Gerardine Beaujean MD, MHPE, Managing Director SHE Collaborates
