Symposium on Artistic Research, 20 March 2018

On Tuesday 20 March 2018, MACCH is co-organising an event on Merian, a current initiative to explore the potential and feasibility of a new Maastricht-based graduate school in artistic research. The idea for Merian is for artists and academics from various backgrounds to work in a shared, transdisciplinary research environment, moving between institutions, and addressing societal challenges.

The Merian initiative is a collaboration between researchers from Zuyd Hogeschool (Research Centre for Arts, Autonomy, and the Public Sphere), Maastricht University (Faculty of Humanities and Sciences, and Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences) and the Van Eyck Academy.

The program of 20 March consists of an introduction of the ‘Maastricht style’ of artistic research. Based on concrete examples of artistic research, we aim for an in-depth discussion on artistic research at the PhD level, with relevant partners in the field.

The event will take place in conjunction with the MACCH Annual Conference on 18 and 19 March 2018.
