SHE Collaborates in the Picture

By

Cees van der Vleuten

More than five years ago, the School of Health Professions Education (SHE) started this new branch of international activities and collaborations in 2012. With the strength of the SHE approach, these new initiatives were developed into “SHE Collaborates”. The School of Health Professions Education (SHE) has been thriving since its inception in 2005 and with the three pillars of SHE, research, education and valorization we have grown significantly in the past years.

Connectivity between the branches of SHE

SHE is performing well on a number of indicators. Given the ambition to connect research with educational practice, we wish our staff to have an all-round expertise as much as possible. SHE Collaborates represents the valorisation branche and successfully connects between all branches of SHE and performs in our global network and community.

The world of health professions education is changing rapidly and the fundamental backbone of this change is the emergence of health professions education units all over the world. This is a positive development since it will promote further professionalization of health professions education worldwide.

The meaning of valorisation

Valorisation is all about impact that can be created through the transfer of our scientific knowledge and by sharing and making that knowledge and expertise available for other (societal) organisations such as educational or healthcare organisations and professionals and by communicating that knowledge to the general public.

Integral service to clients by SHE Collaborates

In recent years, the valorisation arm of SHE has grown. SHE Collaborates is a firm and important arm within the school, serving as an engine of educational innovation in many parts of the world. SHE Collaborates is the knowledge broker between the external demand for educational change and Maastricht University’s internal expertise.

SHE adapted her attitude towards the demands from the clients and partners in general and from servicing clients in a more integral manner. This means tailor-made services to our clients including use of (recent) research-informed educational technology in the widest sense, involvement of educational experts and other cutting-edge expertise of the School of Health Professions Education.

We like to inform you in this SHE Communicates more closely about the work and projects of SHE Collaborates.
