Down memory lane: Observant archive completely online

Were you a regular reader of Observant during your study time in Maastricht? Or were you a student in the first years after the establishment of our university and do you remember Maffius? Chances are you would like to browse through the old volumes and reminisce about your student days.

New: searching in volumes January 1985 – February 2009

Observant has a digital archive from March 2009. University Library employees have scanned the missing old volumes – 60 back issues of Maffius and 945 Observants – in total more than 19,000 pages – and provided the correct metadata. That is why you can search all volumes now.
The digitisation has been made possible thanks to the Maastricht University (UM) Heritage Project Group.

Historically important
The collection shows the enormous and rapid development of UM from all sorts of perspectives - education, research, cooperation, staff policy, operational management, administration and supervision. Not only for historians, in fact for anyone who is or has been part of the UM community, the digitally searchable archive is a good source for research.

Where can you find the archive?
All digitised pages are included in the UM Library repository for UM collections, under the direct link: umlib.nl/observant. You will also find useful search tips.
