In this journal we like to explain what we can do for you with our research page Law Blogs Maastricht. We assembled some tips and tricks from experts on how you can write your own unique and engaging blog post. But first of all let us answer the next question:
Writing blogs about your research, why bother?
Blogging is one of the most important things an academic should be doing right now but you can find many reasons not to contribute. People in academic life regularly say: ‘I am not paid to write blogposts, only research articles’. So, why would you make the effort?
Academic blogging gets your research out to a potentially massive audience without costs and with only a low amount of effort.
3 more reasons to contribute:
- It supports your professional career and visibility, a blog shows your expertise.
- Blogs play a critical intermediate rol, they link to research reports and articles on the one hand and they are linked to from Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, Tumblr and Google+ news- streams and communities.
- Many academics think it takes days, weeks or even months to write a blog. It does not, after a little practice, it takes 3 to 4 hours at most. You even believe that time devoted to a blogpost is time away from your main research. However, your post is done after you have finished and published your journal article.
Which types of blogs do we publish on Law Blogs Maastricht? • independent blogs about topical events • blogs about findings you have published in a scientific article • blogs about a book you have published, or even your thesis.
