COVID-19 Vaccination and outdoor exercise
|
|
|
The COVID-19 vaccination programme is in full swing. In this email, you can find out where you need to be registered to be eligible for the vaccination and what you need to do if you are not yet registered. And good news for young people up to 27 years of age: as of 3 March, they are allowed to exercise outdoors again.
Vaccination
In 2021, everyone in the Netherlands age 18 and older will receive an invitation to be vaccinated against the coronavirus. That includes us, UM students and employees. If you live in the Netherlands and are registered as a resident of a Dutch municipality, you will automatically receive an invitation for a free COVID-19 vaccination in due course. You do not need to have (Dutch) health insurance for this.
For a brief explanation regarding the importance and safety of the vaccination, please see this website. Detailed information can be found in this PDF.
Make sure you are registered! To be invited for a vaccination in the Netherlands, it is important that you are registered as a resident of a municipality.
- If you are living in the Netherlands long-term (longer than 4 months), you need to be registered in the Personal Records Database (BRP)* of a Dutch municipality.
- If you are staying in the Netherlands for less than 4 months, you need to be registered in the Non-Residents Records Database (RNI) in order to be vaccinated in the Netherlands.
If you are not yet registered in the BRP or RNI of your municipality, please do so quickly so that you are still in time to receive an invitation to get vaccinated. To do this, go to the city hall (gemeentehuis) of your municipality of residence (for BRP registration) or a city hall that has an RNI registration desk (for RNI registration).
Do you live outside the Netherlands? Then you are not eligible for the Dutch vaccination programme. Check to see what you need to do in order to get vaccinated in your country of residence.
How and when will you get an invitation? When it is time for your population group to be vaccinated, you will receive an invitation by letter. This invitation will tell you what to bring (including your ID) and where to go, for example, to a municipal health service (GGD) location or to your doctor’s office. Here you can see approximately when you can expect to receive your invitation.
*Residents of the Netherlands are required to report changes in their personal data to the municipality in which they live, for example, when they move. If you move to the Netherlands from abroad for four months or longer, you have to register in the BRP within five days of your arrival. This rule applies to European and non-European citizens.
Outdoor exercise
In the press conference of 23 February, it was announced that, as of 3 March, young people up to 27 years of age are allowed to exercise outdoors again. In consultation with UM SPORTS, some student sports associations will start training outdoors again. The members will be informed through their association. The University Sports Centre will remain closed. All UM SPORTS members can continue to use the alternative sports offer (e.g. online classes, outdoor personal training).
