Vaccinations, self-tests and returning to campus
|
|
|
As of September, we’ll all be able to go back to campus. Surveys show that most staff and students feel comfortable with this. For those who still have concerns, here we indicate where you can find answers to your questions as well as further information.
Information about vaccination
You may have questions about the COVID-19 vaccination. Are the vaccines safe? Do they have side effects? If you had your first jab abroad, can you get the second in the Netherlands? And what about the INKOM and the faculty introductions?
We have created a webpage with FAQs, a video series in which UM experts explain the science behind the COVID-19 vaccination, and online lectures from the ‘Universiteit van Nederland’ on the virus and vaccines by immunologist Professor Marjolein van Egmond (Amsterdam Medical Centre).
Self-testing Are you not yet (fully) vaccinated and have you not had COVID-19? In that case, we urge you to take a voluntary self-test when you come to campus in September. For the safety of yourself and others, it is wise to do a self-test even if you have been vaccinated. You can order free kits through the website Zelftestonderwijs.nl until 30 July; after that date the website will be taken down. Be sure to stock up so you have enough self-tests at the start of the new academic year!
Returning to the office safely in September
Webinar A survey of UM employees has shown that the majority expects to feel safe on campus in September. Do you have concerns or questions? Rector Rianne Letschert and Emeritus Professor of Psychology Gerjo Kok will answer as many questions as possible during a webinar from 16.30 to 17.30 on 6 July. Keep an eye on the communication emails for the link to the webinar.
Manual for managers A manual is currently being drafted for managers, aimed at assisting those employees who have concerns about returning to the office in September. Once the manual is ready, you will be informed via a communication email. You will receive the manual through your unit.
