If Denyse van Opbergen has to choose one word that suits her, that is ‘wanderlust’. After years in Ghana, Vancouver Island and Edinburgh, she returned to her hometown of Maastricht for her master's degree. She is now on the other side of the world again. It's Toronto, Canada, where she lives and works.

The Maastricht Debate
On April 29, 19h00 – 20h30, leading candidates for the position of President of the European Commission will debate each other in Maastricht.
The debate will take place in the Theater aan het Vrijthof in Maastricht and is sold out. Do you want to watch and listen though? The Maastricht Debate will be broadcasted live.

New: UM crowdfunding platform
|
|
From the oldest comedy book printed in Maastricht to research into cardiovascular disease in women: it can all be found at UM Crowd. UM Crowd is Maastricht University’s new crowdfunding platform. The platform is managed by the Univeristy Fund Limburg/SWOL and offers UM students and scientists alternative opportunities to raise money for their projects.
Visit UM Crowd for information about the campaigns, as well as for surprising facts, updates and stories. And maybe a project is there that you want to contribute to? Then you’ll be supporting a concrete, socially relevant initiative that is directly connected to your university!

Useful: Online Career ModulesAre you looking to improve your professional skills? Then the Online Career Modules might just be the thing for you. UM Career Services have developed their own Online Career Modules available for use to support students, alumni and staff 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on a wide range of career related topics. These modules are 12 self-contained online tutorials on employability related topics. The topics range from self-understanding and personal branding to making a CV and finding an internship. Interesting lectures for alumniYou might still remember Studium Generale from your time studying in Maastricht. As part of the Student Services Centre, Studium Generale offers activities that allow you to go in-depth, such as lectures, debates, talkshows, lecture series and the PAS festival. They range from lectures on World War II (4 May) to the brain and food (7 May), and from events such as ‘Let’s Talk about Your Future in Europe’ (15 May) to play ‘The ConScience App’ (6 June). Alumni are also very welcome, so if you’re in the Maastricht area, come and visit us!
