Fill in and win… iPads and UM sweaters
|
|
|
In the upcoming months, Maastricht University carries out several activities in which support of its alumni plays a vital role. So we would like to ask you to help us by filling in the surveys below… With some luck, you might even win a prize!
Survey 1: What do you need? The UM Alumni Office would like to know your wishes, interests, values and expectations. Why? Because the world is changing rapidly and so are the needs and interests of our alumni. Therefore, together with the Service Science Factory of Maastricht University, we conduct a survey amongst all UM alumni. With your input, we are able to improve our services for you and to bring the UM alumni community closer together. The UM Alumni Office is raffling 3 iPads and 5 UM sweaters among all participants.
Click here for the survey or keep an eye on your mailbox.
Survey 2: What does your career path look like? If you have graduated in the years 2009-2010, 2014-2015 or 2018-2019, you can expect an invitation letter and/or e-mail in the upcoming period, which asks you to participate in the UM graduate survey on alumni and the labour market. Why? Your input is used to inform prospective students correctly during UM Master’s Open Days. Moreover, all answers provide UM and its faculties with various information on their graduates, which may lead to new policy decisions. Maastricht University is raffling UM sweaters among all participants.
Keep an eye on your mailbox.
Please note: it is possible that you will not receive an invitation for the surveys due to an opt-out in our data system.

Fellow alumni in action!
Do you want to contribute to (research) projects of fellow alumni? For instance, FHML alumni Rogier Veltrop and Chahinda Ghossein-Doha both work for the UM and have recently started a crowdfunding campaign via the university platform UM Crowd. Rogier focuses on funding life-changing cardiovascular research in general, whereas Chahinda wants to raise money for cardiovascular research in women specifically (in return, you will receive a personal book including the story of the well-known Dutch TV personality Eva Jinek!).
Moreover, the Belgian slipper start-up Flemmard, co-founded by SBE alumnus Guillaume Hansart, have created the world’s cosiest slippers – you can read more on this website and can pre-order your pair (in French). All inspiring initiatives!
Keep on learning and networking (online) with UMIO
Online education and collaboration have been on the rise for many years and the recent corona crisis has accelerated this development even further. At UMIO and Maastricht University, we have embraced this development by building a learning portfolio for individuals and organisations that want to continue their professional development online. For instance, you can join online or hybrid courses, programmes, and more.
Moreover, UMIO has recently launched UMIO Prime, a free connection and interaction platform that helps business professionals and organisations gain the knowhow and network to create a meaningful impact together.

Tens of millions for UM cultured meat
Cultured meat company Mosa Meat, a spin-off of Maastricht University, has received 55 million euros from private investors and 10 million euros from the Dutch government. Professor Mark Post will use this money to bring the cultured beef hamburger to market. Where it will be introduced first remains to be seen. “It could be in Singapore, if we get approval there earlier.”
