Impression of the evaluation of our new MHPE curriculum
|
|
On Monday February 13 and February 14 a national accreditation committee evaluated our new MHPE curriculum.
We are happy and proud to tell you that MHPE got approval on all four standards. The committee explained that the new curriculum seemed quite complex at first, but that they had gained a good understanding of it in the two-day visit. They were impressed by the theoretical foundation of the curriculum and the coherence in its design.
The committee valued the quality of the MHPE curriculum content and the learning tasks, and recognized how it is based on teamwork and grounded in theory. They were positive about the combination of obligatory and elective learning tasks, group and individual work, and campus-based and online periods. They were happy with the quality of the thesis work and impressed by the number of publications, but felt that our thesis grades were sometimes a bit on the high side (for Dutch standards).
The committee was also impressed by the enthusiasm and motivation of all MHPE staff that they spoke to, and the way that the MHPE programme is embedded in SHE and the FHML faculty. They talked to students and alumni (without us) and heard that they were also positive and felt that the international character of the programme was a real attraction.
We would like to thank all of you for your contributions to MHPE, now and in the past. We could not have done it without you!
The past few years have been intense. We have worked hard, maybe too hard, but our efforts have paid off and have been seen and recognized.

Católica Medical School - a students' perspective
A few year's ago, Maastricht University, through SHE Collaborates, started a partnership with Universidade Católica Portugesa (UCP) with the aim of introducing our International Medicine Curriculum (ITM). In close collaboration by the partners, the curriculum and education methodologies were adapted to the Portuguese context. In September 2021, Católica Medical School opened its doors.
Let’s meet the students!
