Anne van den Bulck | CAPHRI Dissertation Award
|
|
CAPHRI Dissertation Award 2023 goes to…Anne van den Bulck!
During the annual CAPHRI Research Day last June 7, Anne van den Bulck received the CAPHRI Dissertation Award 2023 for her dissertation 'Differences that matter: Understanding case-mix and quality for prospective payment of home care.' In total, 70 dissertations were be published within the CAPHRI research institute in 2022. The CAPHRI science committee unanimously agreed that Anne's multifaceted thesis deserved this recognition, as a clear example of the link between science and society. During her PhD, Anne has studied how you can fund home care in a way that quality of care is promoted instead of quantity, like a 'fee-for-service' system does. In doing so, she particularly dived into 'case-mix classification' as a foundation for new funding. She developed and implemented a questionnaire to allocate home care clients to groups with equal care needs.
Anne's team consisted of promoters Dirk Ruwaard (Maastricht University) and Misja Mikkers (Tilburg University, Dutch Healthcare Authority (NZa)), and co-promoters Arianne Elissen and Silke Metzelthin (both Maastricht University).

Focus on the impact of your research: The value of co-creation
The impact (or ‘valorization’) of your research has become increasingly important in the academic world. Do you know who your stakeholders are? What are their gains and pains? How could you involve them in your research?
This course will support you with creating awareness about the societal, business and scientific impact of your research work. You get to know more insight into the ‘why’ and the ‘how’ of fostering the impact of your project by a co-creative research approach.
Dates: 20 September and 25 October 2023

ZonMW Grant - Treatment Type 2 Diabetes

ZonMw grant for pilot study of shared decision-making in the treatment of type 2 diabetes
In the beginning of June 2023, the Living Lab for Sustainable Care received a ZonMw grant for a pilot study to assess the feasibility of a large cost-effectiveness study into a newly developed shared decision-making program for people with type 2 diabetes. This living lab is part of the department of Health Services Research of Maastricht University. The shared decision-making program is a complex intervention, as it consists of a patient decision aid, preparatory consultations for patients and a training for care professionals. To improve the chances that a large-scale cost-effectiveness study will bring about useful results, the program will be pilot-tested by four general practices in the Netherlands. The researchers will, among others, assess how to measure the outcomes of shared decision-making in a valid and reliable way.
Start of study: November 2023 Duration: 1,5 years
