On request of the Indonesian Ministry of Health (Kemenkes), and in close cooperation with the Dutch Embassy, SHE Collaborates was invited to visit 3 Universities for Applied Sciences (Poltekkes) on 3 different islands in Indonesia, in September 2023.
The aim is to strengthen Nursing education to meet international standards, by building capacity of the teaching staff. Many stakeholders are involved to improve health care at the primary level, the ultimate goals of Kemenkes. All three poltekkes opened many doors for us and we spoke to a great number of committed health workers, health administrators, teachers and students. The hospitality and kindness combined with the beauty of the country was overwhelming.
In the coming period we will develop a detailed project proposal to work on this pilot project for 3 years. If all goes well it will be extended to all 38 poltekkes in Indonesia. We are very honoured to be invited to take part in this endeavour.
Terima kasih banyak!
Geraldine Beaujean, also on behalf of Ruud Heijnen, Laury de Jonge and Lucienne de Jonge-Braam
