Special study areas and building accessibility

|
As announced earlier today, further information on the special study places available to vulnerable students, despite the closure of the buildings, is given below. We also indicate which buildings will be closed or open in the coming weeks.
Study places for vulnerable students
From Wednesday, 16 December, the university libraries and all other study places will be closed with the exception of Grote Looiersstraat 17 where a limited number of study places will be made available to vulnerable students.
Vulnerable students are students who find it difficult to study at home. These include students with a disability, students with mental or physical problems, students who feel lonely, students with caregiving responsibilities, students who are parents and students who do not have adequate facilities to study at home.
If you fall into this category, you can reserve a place via the reservation app at the University Library.
You can reserve one time slot per day, from 8.30 to 13.00 or from 13.00 to 17.00.
Study places are always available for students with a functional disability. If it is difficult to use the app due to your disability or if all reservations are fully booked, please register for a study place via Ask Your Librarian.
Reservations can be made starting at 20.00 tonight (15 December). The Grote Looiersstraat is closed, also for these students, from 25 December through 1 January. As of 2 January, the study places are available again. Check UB FAQ for more information.
Building accessibility
The rest of this calendar week As mentioned earlier today, in principle the UM buildings are closed. However, for specific purposes, such as laboratory work, the buildings remain accessible. Additionally, until the end of this work week (Friday 18 December) it is possible for employees, in consultation with the building manager or director, to gain access with their UM card to collect necessary items.
Period from 21 December to 3 January During these two weeks, all buildings will be closed to students and staff due to the Christmas recess. Only staff who have received permission from their manager to work in a UM building in the days before Christmas are exempted. Another exception applies to the University Library at Grote Looiersstraat 17, where a limited number of study places are available for specific groups of students (see message above). PLEASE NOTE: from 25 December through 1 January, the Grote Looiersstraat is also closed for these students.
Period after 4 January More information on the accessibility of the buildings after 4 January will follow later.
Please note that only the UM SPORTS building (the USC) is closed. A great deal of work is being done to organise activities both outdoors and online. Online group lessons are possible via FitSnacks TV, also during the Christmas break. More information will follow in the UM SPORTS newsletter and on social media.
