Projects have fixed start and end dates, but partnerships know no such limits.
This week we are finalizing the 4-year project ‘Capacity building for innovative interventions and services on sexual and reproductive health and rights’ with the Catholic University of Mozambique (UCM), who has been our partner for decades. Over time, institutes become people, and people become friends.

Leaning into the academic virtual world—Ups and Downs, around and around
The COVID19 pandemic has led to many of us leaning on the internet like never before. However, this has been my reality for the past four years, even if it was augmented in 2020. You see, I’m at the end of a dual PhD trajectory which means that I’ve used the internet in many necessary, innovative ways.

“To Maastricht with love”
Hello friends, this is Yawar. I am a Maastricht graduate (2012-2014). It is really exciting to be a SHE Alumni and I still miss the days spent at Maastricht. Just a month before joining I had no clue that I’ll going to be a part of one of the most amazing programs in Health Profession Education at UM.

Looking back and forward after your SHE defence by Luis Dominguez and Laurents Stassen
On February 23, Luis Dominguez received his doctorate, supervised by Laurents Stassen, Willem de Grave and Diana Dolmans. He has conducted research into the job-crafting skills of residents and the role that supervisors or leaders can play. What can educators do in the clinic to prevent residents from dropping out, very topical subject and good work. Reason enough for first supervisor Laurents Stassen to interview Luis on his research and the impact it can have.

Start of the Católica Medical School in Portugal in September 2021
In 2018 SHE Collaborates started a collaboration with Universidade Católica Portuguesa (UCP), with the aim of establishing a Medical School. The 6-year student-centered medical programme that Católica Medical School will implement is a copy of the International Track in Medicine curriculum at Maastricht University, with adaptations to comply with the specific Portuguese context. The past 3 years SHE Collaborates contributed to the capacity development of UCP staff to assure the quality of this new medical programme.

Sharing knowledge in Project Development in an International Context
For the second year, SHE Collaborates shared knowledge in the extracurricular course “Project Development in an International Context” for FHML students. In this 14-week course, students work in a team on a project proposal and learn, supported by theory and coaching by professionals, more on how to write a good proposal and to get an international project of the ground. One of the student project teams developed a proposal on Improving Menstrual Health Management in Uganda.

Launch of the new MHPE curriculum: “De kop is er af”
Monday 17th May was marked with big red exclamation marks in our calendars. The official start of the new MHPE curriculum came with a lot of excitement! The curriculum committee, together with a team of teachers, have worked very hard on developing the new MHPE curriculum. A big challenge became an even bigger one when everything had to go online and we were all working from home.
