♻️ Sustainability in the Dutch Operating Rooms ♻️ A few weeks ago, we had the honor of participating in a crucial event for sustainability in Dutch operating rooms — the Invitational of the Landelijk Netwerk de Groene OK. This gathering provided an exceptional platform to engage with pioneers in green healthcare. Marc Davidson, a member of our CAREFREE consortium, addressed the complex moral dilemmas of sustainability in healthcare. His profound insights prompted lively discussions among attendees, emphasizing the importance of ethical considerations as we advance toward sustainable healthcare solutions. Myrthe Eussen also showcased our consortium's efforts with an pitch about the CAREFREE-project. Her presentation illustrated our strategies and collaborative initiatives aimed at embedding sustainability deeply within healthcare systems. The general consensus from this inspiring evening was clear: the Netherlands is making commendable progress with many enthusiastic professionals driving change, yet there is still much to do. We have to continue pushing for a greener healthcare system! 🌱💚 #Sustainability #LandelijkeNetwerk #GroeneOK #CAREFREE #GreenHealthcare

🌟 Exciting News in Nutrition! 🌟 As chronic diseases rise, there's growing evidence that a one-size-fits-all approach to nutrition falls short. That's why ILSI Europe is thrilled to announce the launch of a new initiative focused on #PrecisionNutrition – a personalised approach to dietary interventions with the potential to reverse this alarming trend. Join us in exploring precision nutrition and its transformative impact on various stakeholders: 🔹 Equip individuals with personalized dietary strategies for disease prevention. 🔹 Enhance healthcare professionals' capacity to implement precision nutrition alongside other risk factor management. 🔹 Inform health authorities in developing more comprehensive and personalised dietary guidelines. 🔹 Drive innovation in the food industry by creating targeted products based on scientific evidence. Commissionned by the ILSI Europe Dietary Carbohydrates Task Force (https://lnkd.in/ezEjzzfy) and led by renowned human biology and nutrition expert Prof. Ellen Blaak from Maastricht University, NL, this initiative promises to be a game-changer. Be part of the solution! We're inviting industry experts and stakeholders to join us as we delve into: 🔹 The definition and various approaches of precision nutrition. 🔹 The role of omics technologies and wearables in personalization. 🔹 Data-driven vs. knowledge-based implementation strategies. 🔹 Integration with broader health considerations (sleep, physical activity, socio-economic factors). 🔹 Translation into practice (self-management tools, ethical considerations). 🔹 Perspectives on implementation (timeline, risks, stakeholder roles). The activity is already supported by industry leaders such as Abbott Nutrition, Barilla G&R Fratelli, Cargill, Mondelēz International, Sensus, and Südzucker Group. 📅 Mark your calendars for our kick-off meeting on May 30th at the ILSI Europe office in Brussels. Ready to join or learn more? Reach out to Ching-Yu at cchang@ilsieurope.be. We can't wait to have you on board! #PrecisionNutrition #HealthcareInnovation #PersonalizedDiet #CollaborativeScience

Dr. Zlatan Mujagic (gastroenterologist) and an international research consortium investigated the effects of stress on the gut. “We unraveled how stress leads to worsening inflammatory bowel diseases, Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. It was challenging to find the biological mechanism and the crucial jigsaw pieces underlying this process.” Combining animal and human cohort studies uncovered that psychological stress can modulate the immune system and triggers the gut. Glial cells play crucial role.” Read full article: https://lnkd.in/dG8ZPawh Maastricht UMC+ NUTRIM - Institute of Nutrition and Translational Research in Metabolism
