Highlight The Next Step project (1): Towards zero new HIV infections in Limburg!

By

The Netherlands could become the first country in the world with zero new HIV infections. In Limburg Nicole Dukers-Muijrers (Promoting Health and Personalised Care) and her team are working towards this goal with the preventive approach 'Limburg4Zero'. The aim is to prevent new HIV infections and late HIV diagnoses (through regular testing and timely treatment) and to promote positive sexual health (through tailor-made preventive advice).

Limburg4Zero focuses on remote care to increase autonomy and lower the barriers to prevention. Besides, the regional and national network structure around HIV prevention will be strengthened. In short, the Limburg4Zero team is working on good access to information and low-threshold preventive sexual health care.

With The Next Step the Limburg4Zero team perpetuates and accelerates the implementation and network structure in the region. The approach is in line with the Public Health Strategy of the GGD and Healthy Living of Maastricht UMC+.

Limburg4Zero is an initiative of the Living Lab Public Health Limburg, GGD South Limburg with GGD Limburg North, Centre Sexual Health Limburg, Maastricht University, CAPHRI, Maastricht UMC+, regional GPs, COC and our many other regional partners, with support from AIDSfonds and SOA AIDS Nederland.
