‘UM Says No to Tobacco’ webinar

How much does smoking really harm our health? How does the tobacco industry work? What tobacco-control measures are in place in the Netherlands and internationally? And what are some good tips and techniques for quitting smoking?

On 31 May, World No Tobacco Day, an interactive online information session will be held on the theme of smoking and tobacco control. All alumni, students and staff of Maastricht University (UM) are welcome to attend.

Speakers

The following speakers will feature during the event:

  • Marc Willemsen, endowed professor of Tobacco Control Research at UM and scientific director of tobacco control at the Trimbos Institute.
     
  • Nikita Poole, graduate of the master’s in Health Education and Promotion, PhD candidate at the UM Department of Health Promotion and the IVO research institute, and expert on the tobacco industry and tobacco-control policy.
     
  • Thomas Gültzow, graduate of the master’s in Health Education and Promotion, PhD candidate at the UM Department of Health Promotion, and expert on decision aids for smoking cessation.
