Pedro Hernández Serrano (P.V.)

Pedro is currently the Coordinator of Data Stewardship Services and Data Steward to the Faculty of Science and Engineering, appointed by the Maastricht University Library. He facilitates data governance policy development, coordinates research data management support and aids regulatory compliance (e.g., GDPR, FAIR, DMPs).

In 2022 he received the Netherlands eScience Center Fellowship to promote FAIR Software activities. Prior to academic work, he worked in Data Management in the public, financial, and insurance sectors. He has a background in Actuarial Science and Data Science. Some open projects are public available in Github.

At Maastricht University, Pedro has enabled cross discipline collaborations. He has worked at the intersection between Law, Policy, and Data Science in groups such as the Institute of Data Science (IDS), the Maastricht Law and Tech Lab and the Maastricht European Private Law Institute (M-EPLI), taking the roles of researcher and research software developer.

He has lectured data science topics to lawyers, computational analysis to policy scholars, and data privacy to undergrads. He's one of the educational developers of the Global Studies bachelor program and data science trainer at the Brightlands Institute for Smart Society (BISS).
