MHPE Curriculum Revision: Some Updates

By

As you may know, our MHPE programme is currently in the process of a curriculum revision. Now that things are gradually taking shape, we would like to give you an idea of what the new curriculum is going to look like:

  • The new curriculum will be competence-based, offering many opportunities for students to tailor it towards their personal needs.
  • A student may develop into three profiles (with the possibility to opt for a hybrid profile): educational designer, educational researcher, and educational leader.
  • A coach will help the student to map out a personal learning route through the curriculum based on academic needs and previously acquired competences.
  • Learning tasks, modelled after real-life professional tasks, will replace units (as we know them in the current curriculum). A student may freely choose from a specific number of these learning tasks.
  • A student will build up a personal portfolio within a programmatic assessment context. The portfolio is the basis for regular discussions between student and coach, and for possible adaptations of the student’s personal learning route. An assessment committee will evaluate the portfolio.

We realize that this is just a rough preview, but we are confident that more details will become clear soon. We currently plan to start the revised MHPE in the academic year 2021-2022. Please feel free to share any further ideas with us.
