Pim Teunissen, new Scientific Director and Research Director of SHE

Prof. dr. Pim Teunissen is appointed as Scientific Director and Research Director of SHE, the School of Health Professions Education as of 1 September 2020. He succeeds Prof. dr. Cees van der Vleuten who will retire in 2023 and Professor dr. Jeroen van Merrienboer as Research Director of SHE.

In addition to his role as Scientific and Research Director of SHE, he will also continue his work as a medical specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and will start as of 1 December 2020 at the Maastricht University Medical Centre in this position.

Pim Teunissen has had a research appointment at Maastricht University since 2008. Next to his research, he worked as a medical specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Amsterdam UMC. In 2009 he obtained his doctorate from VU University on the subject of 'Workplace learning in postgraduate medical education'. Since then, his research has expanded to cover learning and education in various health professions in undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing professional development domains.

Since 2017, Pim Teunissen has been Professor of 'Workplace Learning in Health Care' at SHE, Maastricht University.
