SHE in the region: International research in Skills4you and COMPAS

By

We like to present two new Interreg projects that SHE took on. One on international patient safety education and the other on research and education on differentation in higher education, vocational schools and secondary schools.

Both projects are funded by Interreg Europe (European Regional Development Fund) that helps regional and local governments across Europe to develop and deliver better policy by research, innovation and implementation efforts that all lead to integrated and sustainable impact for people and place.

As you may know, Maastricht is located in the far corner of the Netherlands, close to Belgium and Germany. On a sunny summer day cycling tour, you can cross to Flanders  (Dutch-speaking Belgium) on to Wallonia (French-speaking Belgium) and end up in Aachen (Germany). Needless to say, that this offers many opportunities and challenges. For the past four years SHE has been involved in research on cross-border patient care with partners from all four regions (https://www.safepat.eu/en/). Daniëlle Verstegen and Juliët Beuken are happy to continue this research collaboration in a new project on international patient safety education: the COMPAS project.

Meanwhile Diana Dolmans, Daniëlle Verstegen and Jeroen van Merriënboer have also been working on a proposal to collaborate with partners in the region in research and education on differentiation in higher educuation, vocational schools and secondary schools.  The SKILLS4YOU project will focus on training teachers in differentiated education, both face-to-face and online. The need for adapting to different needs of students has become even more apparent during the lockdowns this year, which made painfully clear that some students suffer much more than others.
