Every year more than 300 PhD theses are defended in the CaRe insitutes. All four institutes are asked to nominate 2 of that’s year best dissertations. The jury, the four members of the board of governors, score and discuss these dissertations to award one of these 8 PhD theses with the CaRe dissertation award.

Winner of the CaRe award 2023

On Thursday 11 May, the winner of the Care Award 2023 was announced by Prof.Dr. Chris van Weel, at the CaRe days in Eindhoven. First the candidates of the three best PhD theses were announced:

Nora Hamdiui (Radboudumc)
Anne van den Bulck (CAPHRI)
Femke van Schelven (Nivel)

The jury said that it were three very different studies but distinctive from the others when it came to exploring new challenges and approaches, searching for a new basis to work from and reflecting critically during their study journey.

The jury awarded Nora Hamdiui with the CaRe Award 2023 for her dissertation:
Decision-making for participation in screening among Turks and Moroccans in the Netherlands. Lessons learned from chronic hepatitis B and cervical cancer’.

  1. Koen Verburg; The proof of the pudding: Using outcome-based quality indicators in physical therapy.
  2. Nora Hamdiui; Decision-making for participation in screening among Turks and Moroccans in the Netherlands. Lessons learned from chronic hepatitis B and cervical cancer.

  1. Lotta Seppala;  Fall-risk increasing drugs and falls prevention.

Nivel:

  1. Kim de Groot; Notes on nursing documentation: quality criteria and views of nurses and patients.
