Welcome

Welcome to the eleventh newsletter of the Maastricht Centre for Arts and Culture, Conservation and Heritage (MACCH). MACCH is a transdisciplinary research centre that brings together economic, legal, (art) historical, philosophical, sociological and practical expertise in the fields of arts, culture and heritage.

In previous years, the start of spring was always a lively and busy period in Maastricht with The European Fine Art Fair (TEFAF), the annual MACCH conference and many other cultural events organised in March. This year, the city has been awfully quiet. While most events have been cancelled, postponed or moved online, fortunately, research is still flourishing. We are pleased to introduce two new MACCH affiliated researchers as well as several new research projects and publications on illicit trafficking, the return of cultural objects, and money laundering on the art market. In June 2021, we will launch a new webinar series on the topic of Transparency and Trust in Arts and Heritage Worlds. More news will follow soon.

Kind regards,
Dr Vivian van Saaze, Director
