Start of the COMPAS Project

By

SHE is happy to announce the start of the COMPAS project: COmprehensive Multiprofessional Education for improving, distributing and implementing PAtient Safety and maintenance of workforce in the EMR.

COMPAS is a regional research project led by Universitätsklinikum Aachen (just over the border in Germany) in collaboration with the Université de Liège (just over the border in Belgium). The project is subsidized by the INTERREG V-A programme of the Euregio Meuse-Rhine and the Province of Limburg. The COMPAS project started on March 1 2021 and will end on August 31 2023.

Juliët Beuken will work as postdoc on the COMPAS project. Juliët is about to successfully finish her PhD, reporting on research done in a previous project with largely the same partners (www.safepat.eu). Juliët will be supported by project manager Jolanda van Golde and SHE researchers Daniëlle Verstegen, Diana Dolmans and Jeroen van Merriënboer.

An important goal of the COMPAS project is to share knowledge and experience about patient safety training for healthcare professionals and to explore options for shared international education in this domain. The main responsibilities for the SHE-team are to lead work on a blue print for postgraduate training for patient safety in the EMR region and to work on educational methods for patient safety training. We will develop, implement and evaluate two training modules as well.
