Work and collaborate smarter with Microsoft Teams!

As of today, you too can start working with Microsoft Teams (MS Teams). After an extensive pilot period, UM will be introducing MS Teams for all employees. MS Teams allows you to work remotely, chat, hold virtual meetings, make video calls, work together in the same documents and much more! Want to get started with MS Teams? Read on!

You have probably heard of MS Teams before, especially the video call or chat function, but it goes without saying that many more options are available. MS Teams is integrated with Microsoft Office 365, which means you can share Microsoft Office files with others and work on files together at the same time.

Working together in a group

MS Teams allows you to work much more efficiently and gives you a clear overview of a particular project. Action lists, general project information, files: you name it. Everything you need for a successful project. If you would like a new Project Team, please get in touch with one of the MS Teams contacts for your unit or faculty. They can request a project team for you. MS Teams also makes it possible to work with external parties. Would you like to take advantage of this option? If so, discuss it with your information manager. If you require access to an existing Project Team for your work, you can easily arrange this with the relevant Team Owners.

Video meetings

MS Teams also makes it possible to organise video meetings. For now, MS Teams meetings are still scheduled via Outlook. Instructions for planning a meeting via Outlook can be found here.

Before you get started

  • Log in using your UM email address and UM account in order to make optimal use of all the functionalities that MS Teams has to offer.
  • On AthenaDesktop workstations, the Teams app is offered automatically (a VPN/UNIMAAS network connection is required).
  • In the future, more Teams functionalities will automatically become available for UM.

Let's get started!

MS Teams is now available for all UM employees. Head to https://teams.microsoft.com to use MS Teams via the web or use the Teams app instead (which can be found in your start menu).

More information about MS Teams can be found in the ICTS knowledge base. Do you have any questions or comments? If so, please get in touch with the MS Teams contacts for your unit or faculty.
