SHE Dissertation Award 2019

The Award Winner 2019 is Adam Szulewski. Professor Diana Dolmans handed over the award during the SHE Academy 2020. Congratulations to Adam.

The jury members were the members of the management team of the SHE research program, being Jeroen van Merrienboer, Anique de Bruin, Janneke Frambach, Stephanie Meeuwissen and Diana Dolmans with the support of Nicky Verleng.

Nine dissertations were defended at the School of Health Professions Education in 2019 by:

  • Kyle Wilby from Qatar

  • Tiuri van Rossum from the Netherlands Congratulations to all candidates and their supervisors!The jury members were very consistent in their nominations and based on the practical and theoretical relevance and the novelty of the thesis they nominated, the following three candidates: 

Martina Kelly, The title the thesis: “Body of knowledge. An Interpretive Inquiry into Touch in Medical Education”.

Adam Szulewski, The title of the thesis: Through the eyes of the physician: Expertise development in resuscitation medicine”.

Kyle Wilby, The title of the thesis: “When numbers become words: Assessors’ processing of performance data within OSCEs”.

The winner Adam Szulewski was announced as the SHE Dissertation Award Winner 2019

According to the jury, Adam has written a thesis:

1 which is highly relevant for medical practice,

2 which makes a strong theoretical contribution,

3 made use of new innovative measures,

4 that is well written.
